Our Purpose

AnyOrg.com was created as a way for people to take control over their interactions on the internet and create self organized on-line communities. While we encourage organizations to join in the conversation, these on-line communities are initiated and operated by the members of each group... kind of like a bottom-up Organization.

AnyOrg.com was created by net2Community, Inc., with the intention of providing tools for community and group organizers, volunteers and friends to organize to make our communities better places to live.

Through this effort we will:
• provide one place for people to get community information for all the groups they belong to
• respect the privacy of our members and groups
• encourage interaction on-line which strengthens relationships in the real world and in the communities we live

Background

We've been watching "social networks" for many years, as well as participating and using them for marketing and to connect with people. But it's a wild wild west out there with lots of concerns over privacy, who owns the data shared on the web and how it's shared. So when a friend suggested we put together a site for our alumni classes, we thought it would be a good idea to expand on that a bit.

In August of 2008 we decided to finally get going on this and after experimenting for about a month we started a clean install on October 3rd, 2008 and opened registration for the Alpha version on November 12th, 2008 as unorg.net. After discussions with a number of organizations about potential sponsorship, we have been working on another round of site improvements since the spring of 2009.

As of fall 2009 you are seeing a complete rework of the original site in the form of AnyOrg.com.

So how are we different? Well you, our users, own your data and are ultimately in control. As our experience and scope grows AnyOrg.com will be established as not-for-profit corporation, with governance being provided by a representative council of AnyOrg.com users. While net2Community, Inc. will continue to maintain and operate the domain.

We need your help

This site is free for all individuals and groups to join and use and will remain so. That is not to say the value of AnyOrg.com is provided at no cost. net2Community, Inc. provides the majority of financial support for the development and management of AnyOrg.com. Sure it's a marketing tool for us, but ultimately it will turn into a formal not-for-profit operation. Projected costs are such that it requires us to ask for your help...
