Bethlehem BBO

Currently the Bethlehem BBO is involved in a listening campaign to determine community needs, issues and concerns. The primary purpose of this interest group is to discover common themes and determine what organizing efforts are appropriate to address them. This site provides a place for our listeners to enter information about thier conversations.

Group Members may enter their "Conversation Notes" using the "Create Conversation Notes (Group) in the Bethlehem BBO Group. These conversation notes and resulting reports will only be available for members of the Bethlehem BBO Group.

Listening Tips

Listening Session Tips:

  • It is probably easier to do a listening session with a stranger than with someone you know hard to move away from just having a conversation when you are meeting with someone you know and dig deeper into what motivates a person
  • 45 minutes is a good time for a session. Longer tends to promote chit chat
  • The session is not to get people to commit or join or change etc, but rather to find out what motivates them, and to build and relationship
  • Listening Sessions are “intentional meetings” not chit chat

Strongly motivated to help others. He likes our ministry with the homeless and Stephens Ministry. On the negative side he feels Bethlehem and the whole ELCA is shifting weight more toward the grace side at the expense of "law" side. He favors actions which fix the system that does injury instead of bandaging already injured people.
